Hi.
I have a problem with the Domino server on our iSeries (DSD). It started around 5.0.10 and persisted through all 6.0.x versions and is still present with Domino 6.5.
The problem is that after I have shut down the server for backup and restarted the server, it sometimes stops responding. It occurs on average once a week, sometimes two days in a row. All processes are still running and it receives mail from the internet, TCP/IP is running and the server is listening on all the normal ports (cheked with NETSTAT). But when you start your notes client is tells you that the server is not responding.
We have LEI running and from that I can see that some jobs start at 2.30 am are not allowed to finish. Other jobs that start earlier are completed normally. There are no other errors logged than "the job failed". This suggests to me that the server has been running OK after it starts and then for some reason stops responding later.
I don't have any agents running on some days and not on others so I have also rulled agents out as possible colprits.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? I have tried to contact IBM and other Domino "Partners" but no one has been able to help so far.
